4. Merry Go-Round –
The Esplanade
This 1928 vintage carousel, still in use, is the largest in Australia. The horses were carved by Melbourne craftsmen with modest ornamentation. It is driven by an electrical lift motor and gearbox, and was the envy of steam-driven carousels.
