2. War Memorial Clock –
Foreshore
Unveiled in 1925, the granite tower, topped by a marble angel, replaced a temporary wood and iron arch over the Jetty entrance. The angel at the top is known as “The Semaphore Angel” and has entered the local lexicon. Locals often agree to meet “at the Semaphore Angel”. The memorial serves as a Roll of Honour and a centrepoint for the ANZAC Day Service held by the Semaphore and Port Adelaide RSL each April 25th.
